Two successive discounts of 12% and 20% are given by Rajat on a shirt. If the marked price of the shirt is Rs 500, then what is the value (in Rs) of discount?

Solution

Marked price = Rs. $$500$$

Amount deducted on 1st discount of 12% = $$\frac{12}{100}\times500=Rs.$$ $$60$$

Thus, net price = $$500-60=Rs.$$ $$440$$

Amount deducted on 2nd discount of 20% = $$\frac{20}{100}\times440=Rs.$$ $$88$$

=> Value (in Rs) of discount = $$60+88=148$$

=> Ans - (C)
