P and Q invested in a business in the ratio 5 : 13. Q withdrew his capital after 6 months. If they shared their profit in the ratio 25 : 26, for how long was P's amount used?
Profit = investment × time
Therefore,
$$\frac{P1}{ P2} = \frac{I1\times T1}{ I2\times T2}$$
if Q invested for 6 months then P invested for (6+x) months
$$\frac{25}{ 26} = \frac{5\times (6+x) }{ 13\times 6}$$
x = 9 months
P = 6+x = 15 months
