R. K. Narayan, a prominent 20th-century Indian novelist, authored The English Teacher (1945), an autobiographical novel. The story follows Krishna, an English teacher, who embarks on a journey of self-development and inner peace after the death of his wife. Set in the fictional South Indian town of Malgudi, the novel is part of a series of works, including Swami and Friends (1935), The Bachelor of Arts (1937), and Malgudi Days (1943). Narayan received numerous awards, including the National Prize of the Indian Literary Academy, for his contributions to literature.
