Solution
Given = x: y = 3 : 5 and x-y = - 2
Let $$x=3a$$ and $$y=5a$$
=> $$3a-5a=-2a=-2$$
=> $$a=\frac{-2}{-2}=1$$
$$\therefore$$ $$x+y=3a+5a=8a=8\times1=8$$
