Solution

According to the question, 1st January 2013 is Wednesday

Number of days left in January = $$31-1=30$$

Similarly, odd days from 1st January 2013 till 2nd January 2014 =

= $$(30+28+31+30+31+30+31+31+30+31+30+31+2)\%7$$

= $$(2+0+3+2+3+2+3+3+2+3+2+3+2)=30$$

Now, dividing 30 by 7, remainder = 2

Thus, day on 2nd January 2014 = Wednesday (+2) = Friday
