An angle is 1/3 its supplementary angle. Find the measure of the angle?

Solution

Let the supplementary angle = $$\theta$$

Required angle = $$(\frac{1}{3}\theta)$$

Sum of an angle and its supplementary angle = 180°

=> $$\theta + (\frac{1}{3}\theta) = 180$$°

=> $$\frac{4}{3} \theta = 180$$°

=> $$\theta = \frac{180 \times 3}{4} = 135$$°

$$\therefore$$ Measure of the angle = $$\frac{1}{3} \times 135 = 45$$°

=> Ans - (A)
