If $$(x+1)$$ is a factor of $$x^2 -7qx+12q=0$$, then find the possible values of $$q$$.
Solution
Given : $$(x+1)$$ is a factor of $$x^2 -7qx+12q=0$$
=> $$x=-1$$ is a solution of above equation.
=> $$(-1)^2-7q(-1)+12q=0$$
=> $$1+7q+12q=0$$
=> $$19q=-1$$
=> $$q=\frac{-1}{19}$$
=> Ans - (A)
