There are 34 European medical students. What percentage of the faculty does this represent?
Let the total number of students be xÂ
Now it is given that 1049 students are in arts which is 23%
so we can sayÂ
x(23/100) = 1049
We get x =4560Â
Now we know that medical students = 5%Â
So number of medical students : 4560(0.05) = 228 studentsÂ
Now out of this 34 students are EuropeanÂ
So percentage of these with respect to total =Â $$\frac{34}{228}\times\ 100\ =\ 15\%$$
