Question 46

The fuel indicator in a car shows $$\frac{1}{5}th$$ of the fuel tank as full. When 22 more litres of fuel is poured into the tank, the indicator rests at three-fourth of the full mark. What is the capacity of the fuel tank?

Solution

Let capacity of fuel tank = $$100x$$

According to ques,

=> $$\frac{1}{5}\times100x+22=\frac{3}{4}\times100x$$

=> $$20x+22=75x$$

=> $$75x-20x=55x=22$$

=> $$x=\frac{2}{5}$$

$$\therefore$$ Capacity = $$100\times\frac{2}{5}=40$$ litres

=> Ans - (A)
