The greater of the two numbers whose product is 900 and sum exceeds their difference by 30 is

Solution

Let's consider two numbers as x & y.

Given that, Product of two numbers x & y is xy=900 ---- (1)

and sum of the two numbers exceeds the difference by 30

i.e.., $$(x+y)-(x-y)=30$$

=> 2y=30

=> y=15

Substituting y=15 in equation 1, we get x=60
