A mixture of 240 litres of juice and water contains 15% water. How much more water (in litres) should be added to this so that the strength of water will become 25% in the new mixture?
Total quantity of mixture = 240 litres
=> Quantity of water in it = $$\frac{15}{100}\times240=36$$ litres
Let $$x$$ litres of water is added. According to ques,
=> $$36+x=\frac{25}{100}(240+x)$$
=> $$4(36+x)=240+x$$
=> $$144+4x=240+x$$
=> $$4x-x=240-144$$
=> $$3x=96$$
=> $$x=\frac{96}{3}=32$$
$$\therefore$$ 32 litres of water should be added to this so that the strength of water will become 25% in the new mixture.
