 IIM Bangalore Summer Placements 2024

With the end of the summer placement season, IIM Bangalore can now look back on another fruitful chapter in its history. This year's biggest batch had a 100% placement rate that broke previous records, landing internships in a variety of sectors. Let's check out the fascinating options that presented themselves to the IIMB students in more detail:

January 30, 2024, marked the conclusion of the summer internship placement at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) for the PGP batch of 602 eligible students MBA for and MBA (BA).

The summer internship placement process was conducted from the 6th to the 11th of November 2023. 484 students were placed during this process including 437 MBA and 47 MBA (BA) students. 115 students were placed following the rolling placement procedure, of whom 89 were PGP and 26 PGP-BA.

"The rolling summer placements saw many first-time recruiters offering roles in strategy, marketing, products, finance, analytics, and investments – some of the projects offered were more interesting and challenging than those offered during the summer placement week," stated Prof. Ganesh N Prabhu, chairperson of Career Development Services and faculty member of IIM Bangalore's Strategy area.

Offers From Various Industry

Consulting

The highest number of offers came from consulting organisations (158), with Accenture Strategy making a record of 45 offers. However, the percentage of students interning in consulting decreased somewhat this year due to the high volume of offers (130) from highly sought-after finance, banking, and investing firms. 69 offers were made by retail and FMCG companies hoping to fill marketing positions. Manufacturing companies made 55 offers, most related to supply chains and new product introduction. The digital marketing and card industries accounted for 45 bids from e-commerce and payment companies. 43 offers were made by IT-related companies in fields including product management and IT consultancy.

Among the student population, consulting attracted the largest percentage with 158 offers from 20 major businesses, making it the obvious winner. These included well-known behemoths like Boston Consulting Group (17), Bain & Company (17), and Accenture Strategy (45 offers), as well as up-and-coming firms like EY Parthenon (15) and TCS Strategic Leadership Programme (11). This pattern emphasises how important it is to have strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities in the fast-paced corporate environment of today.

Others

Though consultancy took the front stage, there was also a great deal of engagement from other businesses. There were 130 placements in the financial and banking industry, with well-known companies including PwC (12), Goldman Sachs (7), and JP Morgan Chase (7) at the top of the list. Furthermore, a sizable number of students looking for a variety of professional pathways were drawn to the FMCG/Retail (69 offers), Manufacturing/Construction/Energy (55 offers), and IT/Software/Security (43 offers) categories.

Numerous businesses showed their dedication to luring IIMB's outstanding talent by emerging as top recruiters in several different industries. Tata Steel (10 offers) and Asian Paints (5 offers) led the way in manufacturing/construction/energy, while Hindustan Unilever (10 offers) and Procter & Gamble (9 offers) topped the FMCG/Retail area. Pinelabs (7 offers) and Google (6 offers) have shown themselves to be highly sought-after employers.
