These articles are typically much harder to attempt simply because of how dense they are. Infact, most of the time aspirants are struggling with meaning of certain words. In reading history passages, be particularly aware of the author's point of view and how he or she is shaping, and in turn is shaped by, the historical interpretation.

There are 4 passages in CAT VARC. This means that there are 16 questions of RC and 8 questions of VA. There is no fixed format, these can change at any point.
VARC questions can be Macro or Micro - pertaining to a specfic portion of the passage or maybe the entire passage. You can be asked about the Main Idea that the passage is trying to convey, the authors position, what can be an apt title for this etc.
Accuracy. You must focus on accuracy rather than speed here. Even if you have reasonable speed, let us say 10 minutes per passage and can solve all the passages with around 100% accuracy, you have sailed across.
Practice and develop a thorough understanding. Try to solve as many questions as possible and in your head, establish a clear relationship as to why you have selected this answer.
