The ' Rice Bowl of India' is the state of Andhra Pradesh. It has historically held that distinction and within Andhra Pradesh, it is the East Godavari district that is called the 'Rice Bowl Of Andhra'. Godavari, Krishna, and other rivers provide plenty of water to the fields in East Godavari. Climatic conditions and fertile lands along with the coastal line help in cultivating various crops like paddy, millets, and sugarcane. Around 60% of the population is engaged in agricultural related activities and it has been the main income source for the state.
