XAT is a highly respected management entrance exam in India. Many institutes accept XAT scores. The top colleges that accept XAT scores are XLRI, MICA, GIM, XIM-B, etc.
XAT scores are not accepted by IIMs. As far as IIMs are concerned, they conduct a different management exam called CAT. The IIMs only consider CAT scores.
A lot of colleges are available if you can score 90%ile in XAT. These include XIM-B, GIM, IMT Ghaziabad etc.
Harder is a relative term, but it is considered to be much tougher by most candidates. It is a longer exam with tougher RCs. The QA section is on a similar level but XAT has a special section called which is often considered highly subjective.
Certainly! Even though it is much tougher than CAT, it allows you an opportunity for XLRI - which is on the same level as IIM L. In fact, the kind of opportunists you get at XLRI are similar to IIM A,B and C.
